New License


MandalaMaker 2 may be downloaded from the MandalaMaker website. Simply select the link appropriate for your operating system.


Note: MandalaMaker 2 requires that you have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed. For more information on obtaining Java, see System Requirements.

Windows: The Windows distribution is packaged as a standard Windows installer.

  1. Once you activate the download link, you should see a dialog asking whether you want to Run or Save the download.

  2. Select Run and then click through the installer screens.

  3. When the installer completes, you will find shortcuts to MandalaMaker installed on your Desktop and in the Programs area of the Start Menu.

Mac: The Mac distribution is packaged as a disk image (DMG) file.

  1. Once you activate the download link, OS X should mount and open the image on your Mac.

  2. Install by dragging the MandalaMaker-2.x folder in the mounted image to your Applications folder. A handy alias to the Applications folder is provided for this purpose. (See illustration)

  3. Once you confirm that MandalaMaker has been installed in the Applications folder, you can eject the "MandalaMaker-2.x" virtual disk from your Desktop by selecting it and pressing ⌘- E. The downloaded disk image (.dmg) file may also be deleted.

  4. Press ⌘-spacebar to open Spotlight. Begin typing "MandalaMaker." As soon as MandalaMaker shows up in the search results, click on it to launch the program.

  5. If you want to be able to launch MandalaMaker from the Dock, let the program launch and then click on its icon in the Dock and when the pop-up menu appears, choose "Options -> Keep in Dock"

MandalaMaker 2 can be launched like any other application on your computer.

On Windows, you can click on the Desktop shortcut or choose MandalaMaker from the Start Menu.

On the Mac, you can double-click the application's icon found at /Applications/MandalaMaker-2.x/MandalaMaker-2.x, find and launch it using Spotlight (⌘-Spacebar), or click it's icon on the Dock (if you have added it there as described above).

When the program is launched for the first time you will see the Registration Dialog with tabs which allow you to do any of the following:

Running the Demo

MandalaMaker 2 can be run in demonstration mode for up to ten days. The demo mode is fully functional, but the drawing Canvas as well as any images printed or exported from the program are overlaid with a watermark. Once the program is licensed, the watermark is removed.

To activate the Demo:

  1. Click on the Get Demo tab in the Registration Dialog which opens when the program launches.

  2. Enter your name in the text field.

  3. Click the Start Demo button.

  4. Read the Demo license terms and click Agree.

When you launch the program while on the demo, you will see the Registration Dialog indicating the time remaining on the demo. When the demo expires, you will be prompted to buy a license.

Buying a License

Individual MandalaMaker 2 licenses are available for US$99 and can be purchased through PayPal from within the program.

To purchase a license:

  1. Launch MandalaMaker and click on the Get License tab of the Registration Dialog

  2. Fill in requested information. A first and last name and/or a company name must be supplied and your email address must be entered identically in both email fields. The Transaction or Promo code field will be blank. (This is used only for License requests after an upgrade purchase as described below and also for special promotions.)

  3. Click the Buy License button.

  4. Follow website directions.

  5. Once your purchase is complete, you will receive your license via email within 24 hours. (But probably much sooner.)

Buying an Upgrade License

We appreciate our MandalaMaker family.

No matter how long ago you bought your MandalaMaker 1.x, we'll give you full credit for your original license fee (US$39) against your MandalaMaker™ 2 purchase.

To purchase an upgrade:

  2. If you have not done so already, Download MandalaMaker™ 2

  3. Install and launch the program

  4. When the Registration dialog appears, go to the Get License tab.

  5. Fill out the form, entering the Transaction ID or Receipt number you received from PayPal in the provided box, and click the Get License button.

  6. At the web page click the "Request License" button

  7. Your MandalaMaker™ 2 license will be emailed to you within 24 hours (but probably much sooner) - in the meantime you can get familiar with the program using the demo mode

  8. When you receive your license, install it as explained below.

Registering your License

Be Aware:

Do not try to open your license file by double-clicking or any other means!

The file can not be opened. It is understood only by MandalaMaker and only when the directions below are followed as written.

Once you receive your license file:

  1. From the email message containing your license, save the license file to your desktop. If you are uncertain how to do this, refer to your email client's documentation.

    If you use a web based email client, be sure the downloaded license file's name ends with the extension .lic. If another extension is present (such as .html) correct the filename to end in .lic

  2. Launch MandalaMaker and click on the Register tab in the Registration Dialog which comes up.

  3. Drag your license file onto the dialog. The path to the license file will appear in the text field.

    Note that you can also use the Browse button to select the license file from the system open dialog box.

  4. Click the Register button.

  5. Read the license terms and click Agree.

  6. Enjoy!

Be Aware:

If no window appears after the Register button is clicked and MandalaMaker does not appear to be running, restart your computer and MandalaMaker should then run normally and give you no further trouble.

This is a known issue with the program which we are working to correct.

Requesting a New or Replacement License

If you have directly purchased a license from the MandalaMaker website or if you need a replacement license, follow the directions below:

  1. If you do not have MandalaMaker installed, Download MandalaMaker™ 2 and install it.

  2. Launch MandalaMaker and click on the Get License tab of the Registration Dialog

  3. Fill in requested information. A first and last name and/or a company name must be supplied and your email address must be entered identically in both email fields.

  4. Enter the PayPal Transaction ID or Receipt number from your MandalaMaker purchase in the Transaction or Promo Code field. If you are unable to locate your PayPal information, enter NID-0000 in the field. (In this case, you may receive an email requesting purchase validation.)

  5. Click the Get License button.

  6. Follow website directions.

  7. You will receive your license via email within 24 hours. (But probably much sooner.)

Uninstalling MandalaMaker

Uninstalling MandalaMaker is accomplished in the same way that you would remove any desktop program on your operating system. The uninstall directions below will remove MandalaMaker, it's support files and any bundled Java packages.

On Windows:

  1. From the Start Menu, choose Control Panels.

  2. In Control Panels, find Programs > Uninstall a Program.

  3. Find and select MandalaMaker in the list of programs.

  4. Choose Uninstall.

  5. If asked "Are you sure you want to uninstall MandalaMaker?" choose Yes.

On Mac*:

  1. From the Finder's Go Menu, choose Applications to open the Applications folder.

  2. Locate the MandalaMaker folder within Applications.

  3. Drag the MandalaMaker folder to the Trash or select the folder and press Command-Delete on the keyboard.

  4. Empty the Trash. (Be aware that this will delete all the items in your Trash, not just MandalaMaker.)

* These directions assume that you installed MandalaMaker as detailed in the install directions above. It is possible that you might have placed the MandalaMaker folder in a location other than the Applications folder. In this case, you can locate the MandalaMaker folder via a Finder or Spotlight search and then follow the directions above to Trash the folder.
